⚫ Unredacted Updates ⚫
December 3rd, 2024
🗨️ We’ve deployed 11 WebTunnel Tor bridges to help fight against Internet censorship. We’re planning on adding even more in the near future. Metrics can be seen here: https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#search/UnredactedWT
🗨️ Work on our new network (AS401401 https://bgp.tools/as/401401) is still underway. Our edge is finished, with our core next. Hardware has been ordered and we’re looking at sourcing some more over the next few weeks. Once we receive it and finish testing, we’ll colocate the hardware and migrate scattered services to it. We’ve grown to the point where colocation now makes more sense than renting hardware from 3rd parties for a large portion of our infrastructure (including xmpp.is, Unredacted Matrix & Tor relays).
🗨️ Work on previous FreeSocks updates has stagnated for now, but significant work was put into planning for the next set of features which we’ll finish later on. As usual our code is open sourced: https://github.com/unredacted

🗨️ We’re working on an exciting update to FreeSocks, that will make it more difficult for censors to block FreeSocks servers, while at the same time making it easier for us to rotate IPs. A blog post will written describing how it works when finished.
🗨️ Our Ansible role for setting up and migrating new https://freesocks.org servers has been released (it’s open source): https://github.com/unredacted/ansible-role-freesocks – this allows us to scale FreeSocks a lot faster.
🗨️ Work on our anycast network – AS401401 (https://bgp.tools/as/401401) is still underway, we have nearly 10 upstream providers, and we’re continuing to expand. At the moment, we’ve run into a major issue with our network design. It’s a work in progress. Once finished, and moved over to our new network, we’ll write a blog post detailing how and why we designed the network.
