It’s spring time, and we have ambitious goals for 2024! In our “A year in review (2023)” blog post late last year, we briefly mentioned that we wanted to explore becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. After much research, we want to make that a reality. Becoming a non-profit makes us accountable, and allows us to raise funds for services we provide for public benefit.
To raise the funds to become a non-profit, we are starting Unredacted Fundraisers. These fundraisers will run every year, for several months.
You might be asking, how will we become a 501(c)(3) non-profit?
- We want to raise enough funds to pay for;
– Registered Agent fees (~$39)
– Incorporation filing fees (~$50)
– 501(c)(3) application fees ($275)
Estimated Total: $364 - Once we raise enough funds, we can submit our Nonprofit Articles of Incorporation to form our new Inc.
- Write and adopt our non-profit bylaws.
- Get an EIN from the IRS, open a bank account, and eventually apply for 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt status from the IRS among other miscellaneous tasks.
This year, we’d like to raise $1000 which will help us with our non-profit registration fees, and paying server bills.
